Luna, Apayao – A total of 1, 049 TUPAD workers in Calanasan, Conner and Kabugao have received P5, 587,850.00 million in salaries following their 10-day community services under DOLE’s Tupad Program – a community-based initiative that provides temporary employments to support underemployed, self-employed, and displaced marginalized workers.

The said payout is in time for the Christmas holidays and is seen to provide for the needs of the beneficiaries.

Of said recipients, 522 individuals from Conner received total wages of P2,911,100.00 million, while the 211 from Kabugao received P907,300.00, and 316 from Calanasan earned P1,769,450.00 million. The distribution of the wages according to DOLE-Apayao took place on Dec. 3- 6, 2024.

TUPAD program focal person Jhun Sal-eo said the beneficiaries were compensated after they completed community gardening and infrastructure rehabilitation efforts. He said the program is not just for employment but a means to empower resident-beneficiaries to secure a better future as they can use their wages to augment their income, pay for education of their children, or use it in other profitable activities.

Personnel from SWAD Apayao, PLGU, MLGUs, Municipal Agriculture Office, and PESO facilitated the awarding ceremonies.

Over the years, the Office of the Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang continues to support DOLE’s TUPAD program in the province of Apayao.

DOLE Apayao relayed that at present, they are collaborating with LGUs to address unemployment rate in the province by conducting series of livelihood trainings and skills development to advance beneficiaries into more sustainable income generation.
