Tabuk City, Kalinga – Another wave of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program funds will be benefitting 1,167 iKalingas this month of September and October.

This comes after the provincial local government unit led by Governor James Edduba secured funding from the national government amounting to P11.5 million.

On Friday, September 20, the recipients of the program from various localities in the province had their orientation at the Kalinga Sports Center.

As announced, each will be receiving P8,600 for a 20-day work. Their payment follows the minimum wage set by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) or P430 a day.

In his talk, Labor Officer Anthony Luminang of the Department of Labor and Employment – Kalinga underscored how significant the work of the TUPAD employees are as it will not only aid in reducing dengue cases but also promotes agricultural productivity in the region.

As earlier instructed by the governor, TUPAD workers will not only be involved in community cleaning but also in tree-growing activities and gardening.

Edduba specifically mentioned coffee and cacao to be planted by the recipients.

During the event, the governor committed anew that the provincial government will continue sourcing out funds to benefit iKalingas. Said statement by the governor was relayed by Rogelio Lawad, his representative during the orientation.

As to the recipients, they were reminded to perform the works expected of them as their tasks hold significant value not only for themselves but also for their fellow iKalingas.
