Tabuk City, Kalinga – Thousands of yTinglayans, particularly displaced workers, are expected to benefit from the livelihood project awarded Thursday, August 25 by the Department of Labor and Employment-Kalinga.

The awarding was led by DOLE-CAR Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra and DOLE Provincial Director Avelina Manganip.

Apart from Tinglayan, the municipalities of Tanudan, Pasil, and Rizal were also recipients of said government aid.

The grant provided to the Tinglayan municipality amounts to P4,679,670, according to Larae Lactao of the Municipal Information Office.

This was made possible through the Tulong sa Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of DOLE.

In an interview, Lactao said the recipients will start their work on Tuesday, August 30.

Since it is a 10-day employment, the 1,203 yTinglayans will be receiving P3,500 each. Daily wage for said program is P350.

The workers will be tasked with providing services in the maintenance and cleanliness of public facilities. These include the cleaning of community pathways, canals, and schools.

Meantime, Mayor Sacrament Gumilab in a statement expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of DOLE to the municipality, stressing that the temporary employment through the aid would be a great help for his constituents in need.

“Even though a short-term project, this emergency employment is really a big help to our constituents, that is why we are very thankful to DOLE,” Gumilab stated.
