1,700 iKalingas from 5 towns to benefit from P13.3M TUPAD program

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A total of 1,700 iKalingas from five localities in the province will be provided with 15-day temporary jobs starting this week.


This is made possible through the continuous implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program in the province.


The new recipients had their orientation on Monday, August 19 at the Kalinga Astrodome, Capitol Hills, Bulanao, Tabuk City. They are from Pinukpuk, Rizal, Balbalan, Tanudan and Tabuk City.


The provincial government unit said these beneficiaries will be paid P430 a day following the minimum wage prescribed by the Department of Labor and Employment.


As disclosed, the program has a total fund of P13.3 million and was sourced out by Governor James Edduba and Vice Governor Jocel Baac.


Of the total funding, P10 million came from the Office of   House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez while the remaining P3.3 million came from DOLE-CAR.


During the orientation, Governor Edduba reminded recipients to follow the guidelines set by the program. This is to ensure the success of said initiative.


He likewise told beneficiaries to not focus solely on cleaning the community but also to plant trees to make the job more fulfilling and fruitful one.


“Daytoy koma nga programa ket haan lang  nga agdalus, aramiden tayo koma nga fulfilling daytoy kasla koma ti agmula ti fruit trees like arabica and robusta coffee, wennu cacao tapnu adda impact na daytoy nga project. Haan koma nga bisyo mangiyapanan, dapat para ti pamilya, para ti kasapulan yu,” he conveyed.
