1,700 TUPAD beneficiaries in Kalinga receive over P10M in wages

Tabuk City, Kalinga - iKalingas continue to benefit from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that provides temporary employment to “disadvantaged” workers in the country.

Thousands of residents in Kalinga already benefited from TUPAD over the past years, a testament to the continued efforts of local officials to provide displaced workers with temporary employment.

Recently, said program again aided residents in the province as 1,700 beneficiaries received P6,450 each in wages after working for 15 days.

Said residents came from various municipalities, including Tabuk City, Tanudan, Rizal, Pinukpuk, Balbalan, and Pasil.

The payout was done during a ceremony at the Kalinga Sports Center on Friday, October 12.

Governor James Edduba, who graced the event, said that the budget used in the TUPAD program came from the fund he outsourced from the Office of House Speaker and others were from the Office of the DOLE CAR Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra.

Moreover, Edduba acknowledged the efforts of his team in outsourcing funds from the national offices and national line agencies to aid ikalingas in need, saying, "Awan ti mangyari no awan ti request ti aramiden ti staff tayo."

As for the recipients, Edduba urged them to use their earnings wisely, such as buying their essential needs, supporting their families, and supporting their children's education.
