1 dead, 4 wounded in Isabela road crash

Isabela, Philippines – A man from Kalinga died and 4 others were wounded when a passenger van collided with a truck along the road in Malapat, Cordon, Isabela early Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023.


The Totoya Hi-Ace van and the Isuzu truck were heading towards Santiago City when the van suddenly crashed into the right part of the truck, the Cordon police reported.

Joel Crisostomo, 52, driver of the passenger van from Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna was wounded along with the passengers namely, Virgilio Ayangao, 29; Alexander Dulyongan, 53; Oliver Ayangao, 30; and Juliet Vicente, 44, all from Kalinga province.


The victims were ferried by the responding personnel to the hospital for immediate medication. Dulyongan, however, later died.


The truck driver, Domingo Arao, 46, a resident of Malama village in Ligao City, Albay, was unharmed.

While the investigation is underway, some travelers who experienced riding in passenger vans took to social media to attest to the speeding of some drivers.


"Lesson kuma daytoy kadakayo nga driver ti van nga pirmi paspas yu, daig yu pay ambulance," a netizen said.
