1 killed, 2 injured after car crashes into motorcycle in Santiago City, Isabela


Santiago City, Isabela - Unsafe overtaking is recorded by the Philippine National Police as one of the main causes of road accidents in the country, and such a case was recorded in Santiago City, Isabela, over the weekend, resulting in the death of one person and injuring two others.

 

The incident transpired on March 10, 2024, in Barangay Rizal, Santiago City.

 

The casualty was identified as Saturnino Gabriel Abo, while the two injured individuals were identified as Benjie Aboc Oria, 22, and Jaime Caspillan Gloria, 21.

 

They were riding a motorcycle when they met the tragic accident, with Jaime as the rider while Saturnino and Benjie were his pillion passengers.


Police reported that the victims were traversing along the Santiago-Tuguegarao Road on said day when a Toyota Innova Wagon crashed into their vehicle. The car driver was identified as Joseph Padilla Daquis, a resident of Penaranda, Nueva Ecija.

 

Investigation conducted revealed that Daquis overtook a vehicle they were following, causing him to hit the victims’ motorcycle.

 

The victims were thrown off their motorcycles and sustained severe injuries in various parts of their bodies. They were rushed to a hospital by the responding medical team.

 

While Benjie and Jaime survived the incident, Saturnino was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

 

Daquis, meanwhile, is now in police custody and will be facing multiple charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property.
