1-yr-old baby dies after L300 van falls into vacant lot in Baguio

Baguio City, Philippines -  A one-year-old baby died while his parents and five other people were injured after an L300 van fell into a vacant lot in Baguio City on Thursday night, November 28, 2024.

 

A report from the Baguio City Police Office disclosed that the sudden accident happened at around 11:00 p.m. that day, along the road in Parapad, North Sanitary Camp - a winding road in Baguio City.

 

The driver of the van recounted to police that the vehicle "lost traction" - the van's tires skidded while they were traversing an uphill part of the road before the vehicle fell straight into the vacant lot.

 

The driver added that he did his best to maneuver the van into a safe spot and prevent it from falling, but he was unable to do so.

 

The police report did not state how deep was the fall.

 

The casualty and injured individuals

 

As a result of the accident, the baby, identified as King Joseph Gigante Gago, met his untimely death due to his severe head injuries.

 

Other occupants of the van who were severely injured include April Gigante (the mother of the baby) ; Lagrimas Bravo Gago, 63; Jessica Gago Ramos, 28; and Keegan Bravo Gago, 4.

  

Meanwhile, the baby's father, Jason Bravo; Robin Max Kuhnert, a British; and 1-year-old James Rhomel Ramos, suffered minor injuries.

 

The driver of the van, Rhomel Posadas Ramos, was not mentioned in the report if he was injured or not.

 

All said individuals were residents of Tomana West, Rosales, Pangasinan.

 

As of this writing, the four victims who suffered severe injuries are still in the hospital, and two of them are in critical condition.
