Pasil, Kalinga – The continuous hard work of the local officials from this municipality yielded positive results when 10 of its barangays were finally declared drug-cleared, while three others were able to retain their drug-free status.

Resolutions declaring that the barangays are free from drugs were conferred to the barangay captains on December 9 during the joint meeting of Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC), Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), and Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC).

In a press release, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – Kalinga explained that the barangay officials submitted “Application Folders” for the retention and confirmation of drug-cleared and drug-free status.

After thorough assessment and validation, barangays Balatoc, Balinciagao Sur, and Dangtalan were awarded resolutions for their drug-cleared retention.

While the certificates of drug-free status were handed over to the 10 barangays, three remained unaffected with drugs. These include Ableg, Bagtayan, Balinciagao Norte, Cagaluan, Dalupa, Galdang, Guina-ang (Poblacion), Magsilay, Malucsad, and Pugong.

According to Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Helen Lacuesta, the remaining barangay, which is Colayo, is set for deliberation this December due to delayed submission of required documents.

PDEA-Kalinga along with Pasil MLGOO, Pasil Municipal Police Station, MADAC Chairman, and Municipal Social Welfare and Development spearheaded the awarding of resolutions and certificates.

MADAC Chair and Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr. called for local leaders to sustain their support against illegal drugs to prevent crimes and their harmful effects.
