10 hurt after SUV rams jeep in Isabela

Isabela, Philippines – Ten individuals, including two kids, were injured in a vehicular crash involving a passenger jeepney and a sports utility vehicle on Friday morning in Isabela.

Surveillance video shows that the public utility jeepney parked to load passengers at the eastbound lane along Barangay San Antonino, Burgos, Isabela when the SUV from the opposite lane swerved, hitting the jeepney which in turn hit a food stall behind it.

The passengers of the jeepney who sustained injuries in various parts of their bodies include Roberto Lagapa, 24; Lailanie Fernando, 40; Erica Lagapa, 23; and two kids, all from Sandiat Centro, San Manuel, Isabela. Marites Nocadera, 44, from Nuesa, Roxas, Isabela; Maybel Ramos, 39, from Matusalem, Roxas; Romel Mata, 21; and Isaac Foronda were also injured.

The SUV driver identified as Mariano Buduan, 69 from Caliguian, Burgos, Isabela, likewise suffered injuries, while Jayson Cacal, 44, from Barangay Masigun was reportedly safe.

Buduan will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to property.
