10 yKalinga topnotchers and what they have in common

Updated: Jun 21

While topping a board examination like the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) is not a simple walk in the park, 10 yKalingas have shown that achieving this feat is not impossible.

Entering the top 10 is based on norm-referenced, meaning an examinee has to get the highest mark among the test takers in a particular exam. It makes topping the LET more challenging since it has the largest number of test takers compared to other board exams.

In spite of this fact, 10 LET examinees from Kalinga have made it to the top 10 list both at the national and regional level over the past years.

These national topnotchers include Thomgie Tila of Tanudan, top 6;  Febie Gel Dagson, from Tinglayan, top 8; Jeszareth Bantiloc, Tanudan, top 9; and Ira Jean Saga-oc of Balbalan who was named top 10.

The regional topnotchers are Angeline Tubije of Tabuk City, top 3; Kaylyn Duclan, from Tabuk City, top 5; Michelle Tawic, Tinglayan, top 6; Precious Joy Baawa, Tabuk City, top 7; Jackilou Bula-ay, Tabuk City, top 8; and Novie Graile Sad-ang of Tabuk City, top 10.

These 10 may have come from different places and have different learning styles, but they have one thing in common – they all had their board exam review at Dr. Carl E. Balita Review Center(CBRC).

How CBRC helps a dreamer becoming one with her dream

Febie, who took the September 2023 LET - Elementary and the latest topnotcher from the province, recounted that CBRC Kalinga gave her all the resources she needed to ace the LET – from face-to-face review with dedicated and high-caliber lecturers, books, booster sessions, discussions on MS Teams, and a lot of practice tests.

Apart from the materials, the added push for her to enter the top 8 includes the fun-filled activities that develop friendships while educating the mind and also the moral support the branch provides to their enrollees.

“Sir Mavis[the CBRC Kalinga Managing partner] believed that I can top the board too,” she recalled.

Why CBRC?

As for Ira who topped the October 2022 LET – Elementary, CBRC Kalinga provided her with the added knowledge and the confidence to succeed through the review centers’ structured review program.

“CBRC also established a learning environment where the reviewees develop collaboration, friendship and motivation that ensure the efficacy of knowledge. CBRC taught me test-taking skills which are crucial in taking the board exam. Hence, through CBRC, I was able to top the LET!” she added.

Getting a spot in the top 10 is indeed challenging, but it is possible with perseverance, hard work, and determination, combined with the right review center.

Experiencing firsthand how CBRC helps their enrollees not just to pass but to top the LET, Ira enjoins aspiring teachers to enroll and have CBRC as their review partner.

“yKalingas, ag-enroll kayun kasi CBRC Kalinga is more than just a review center. Review quality at its best and more than worth it produces not only passers but also topnotchers,” she stressed.
