11-yr.-old boy drowned in Pinukpuk, found 2 days later

Pinukpuk, Kalinga – After two days of rummaging the waters in Pinukpuk, authorities found the boy who drowned in the municipality on Saturday.


Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station, headed by PMaj. Chester Boclongan, Acting Chief of Police, relayed to GURU Press Cordillera that the victim was an 11-year-old grade five student of Camalog Elementary School in Pinukpuk.


The kid, according to the initial investigation by the police, was swimming at the river in Camalog with his companions on Saturday, January 25 when the incident happened. At the time, the victim was said to have gone to the deeper portion of the river and was swept by the strong current.


Upon report of the incident to the authorities, the search and retrieval team which includes the army, police, BFP, PDRRM, municipal LGU, and barangay officials among others, was deployed to look for the 11-year-old victim.


On Monday, January 27, two days after the incident, the lifeless body of the boy was found along the Chico River in Sitio Abbot, Bagumbayan, Tuao, Cagayan.


The remains of the victim were brought to the Carbonel Funeral Services in Tabuk City upon retrieval.
