110 barangays in Cagayan affected by flooding due to Typhoon Maymay


Cagayan, Philippines – Around 110 barangays in Cagayan experienced flooding due to the continuous rain brought by a Shear line and Tropical Depression Maymay.


Maymay developed into a tropical depression on October 11, 2022, bringing a huge downpour in Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, the extreme northern portion of Quezon, and areas in the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.

According to Cagayan Public Information Office, Maymay triggered flooding in 110 barangays from 14 towns in Cagayan. This affected around 4,867 families or 17,673 individuals.


During the onslaught of the said tropical depression, two fishermen in Buguey and Sta. Ana were reported dead.


An irrigation canal in Allacapan was reportedly washed out.

While Maymay weakened into a low-pressure area this October 13, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration forecasted moderate to heavy rain, with at times intense rain in Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao until Friday, October 14.


Light to moderate rain, with at times heavy rain is also expected the rest of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.
