12 units modernized jitney now operate in Benguet

La Trinidad, Benguet – The 12 modern public utility jitneys (PUJs) of a cooperative in Benguet are now ready to operate in La Trinidad following an inauguration held at Dap-ayan Restaurant-Pico Branch on September 14, 2022.


Said project was initiated by Benguet State University and Community Multipurpose Cooperative (BSU-CMPC) – a cooperative recognized as the lead cooperative in CAR in terms of Assets in 2020 - to support the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) of the government in the province.

Said pursuit also aimed at providing eco-friendly, safe, and comfortable transportation to commuters.


According to the Land Transformation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Cordillera (LTFRB-CAR), BSU-CMPC is the first cooperative in the region that launched the use of modern PUJs for the locality.


Of the operating units, LTFRB-CAR said that 5 PUJs are authorized to operate from Baguio City to Tomay route, 4 units for Baguio city to La Trinidad, and 3 units for Baguio city to Camp Dangwa.

During the inauguration, Governor Diclas lauded the BSU-CMPC for spearheading the projects to help the operators and drivers of the PUJs.


Diclas likewise commended the unity and teamwork of the group in supporting the goal of the province of Benguet which is to address climate change through the PUV Modernization Program.
