12-yr.-old boy drowns while swimming in Tuguegarao's Pinacanauan River

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - A 12-year-old boy drowned while swimming in Pinacanauan River in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023.

The casualty, as reported by the Cagayan Provincial Public Information Office, was identified as alias 'Jomar', a resident of Centro 11, Tuguegarao City.

According to the police investigation, Jomar was with his five friends when they went swimming in said river. The authorities added that the drowning happened when the victim together with his buddy hidden under the name 'LJ' went to the deep portion of the river.

Apparently, Jomar and LJ did not know how to swim, resulting in the unfortunate incident.

Their other friends tried to save them, but it was only LJ who made it alive.

After being notified about the incident, authorities arrived at the area and rescued the victim. He was rushed to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
