P3M budget alloted to payment of government interns in Kalinga

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Some 134 young individuals in Kalinga will not just be helped financially but will also be given the opportunity to develop skills necessary in working in the government and private sectors.

This is after they were hired for the Government Internship Program (GIP), which is a collaborative program of the provincial government of Kalinga, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in Kalinga.

The program was funded by DOLE with a budget of P3 million.

The program will allow recipients, mostly fresh graduates, to work in various offices that are under the provincial government and will be paid P400 a day.

According to the Provincial Information Office, recipients shall be working for 53 days, from October 9 to December 20, 2023.

“During this period, they will actively engage in tasks and responsibilities assigned to them, gaining invaluable experience and exposure to the workings of the public sector, all while earning a daily stipend of 400 pesos,” the office wrote.

In his message during the orientation of the interns, Kalinga Governor James Edduba told them to make use of the opportunity to gain experience that would help them in their future careers.

He further encouraged them to be passionate and dedicated to what they do, just like those individuals who already have remarkable careers.

"You can be where you want to be; just work. I-trabaho yu, ay-ayaten yu iti trabaho yu. That is the secret—love what you do," he conveyed.
