14-year old girl drowned in Tadian, Mt. Province found in Ilocos Sur

Tadian, Mt. Province – The body of a 14-year-old girl that was swept away by the raging waters of Balas-iyan River in Tadian on Wednesday night was found around 3:49 AM of Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Sitio Likew, Patiacan, Quirino, Ilocos Sur.

The victim was identified as Adelfa Ayomen, a resident of Mabalite, Tadian, daughter of the punong barangay of said village.

A Quirino Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) personnel relates that Ayomen was on her way home carrying a sack of rice when she was swept away by a strong current due to heavy rains.

“Naabutan ti ulo ti danum gapu ti napigsa a todo idi agballasiw isuna ket nakaawit iti nakasako nga irik,” said the MDRRMO Quirino staff.

A search and rescue operation was then made at the Balas-iyan River along Poblacion, Cayus, Banoen, Malideg, Iteb area until it was found by volunteers in Barangay Patiacan, Quirino, Ilocos Sur.

“Dagiti kakadwa a nagresponde a kailyan ti nakasarak, kasi adu kami a team with different area to search and monitor with the help of concerned citizens and barangay official,” the source disclosed.
