149, 508 yKalingas complete Step 2 PhilSys Registration

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A total of 149,508 yKalingas completed the Step 2 registration process for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) ID as of December 31, 2022, according to Philippine Statistics Authority-Kalinga.

PSA-Kalinga posted said figure on their Facebook page on Thursday, January 27.

Step 2 involves the capturing of registrant's biometric information such as their iris scan, fingerprint scan, and front-facing photograph and the validation of information at their local registration centers.

Among localities, Tabuk City recorded the highest registrants with 72,085, followed by Pinukpuk - 24, 591, Rizal - 16,602, Balbalan – 9,425, Tinglayan – 8,619 and Lubuagan – 6,758.

Tanudan logged the lowest registrants with 5,408.

What’s next after the getting of biometrics data?

After the step 2 registration, the captured biometrics will be sent to the PRO or the central server, which will be linked later on to their demographic data for validation.

After validation, the data will be sent to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for the printing of the IDs.

Philpost is in charge of the distribution of the IDs.

Issuance of ePhil IDs

To close the gap between the number of people who registered and the number of cards that have been delivered, issuance of ePhilID is being conducted by PSA-Kalinga.

The ePhilID, according to PSA, is the digital version of the PhilID which is printed on a piece of paper.

Like the physical PhilID, the digital PhilID has security features and contains demographic data which include the person’s full name, sex, blood type, marital status, date, place of birth, 1×1 photo, residential address, and a QR code with a unique digital signature.

Even if the public already received their digital IDs, they are allocated a physical PhilID card, as emphasized by PSA.
