Santa Marcela, Apayao - Fifteen Local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Santa Marcela on April 10, went through a Financial Management and Bookkeeping Training to upscale and further boost their growth opportunities.

The training is timely as businesses are growing in the said town.

Said training was conducted at the ECB Hall by the LGU headed by Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Apayao led by Ms. Daisy J. Quimoyog, OIC-SME Development Division covering crucial topics on budgeting, financial analysis, and record-keeping.

Santa Marcela LGU LEDIPO Ms. Elizabeth F. Palacay said the provision of the training aimed to help these local entrepreneurs manage effectively their businesses by expanding their knowledge, gaining entrepreneurial and financial skills.

In her talk, she highlighted the need to focus on financial literacy to ensure that local MSMEs grow and flourish and not go bankrupt, hence also creating more jobs and employment for the people.

Mayor Martinez, meantime, recognized the importance of a strong tie up between the LGU and DTI to strengthen business sectors by equipping them through capacity-building activities that foster economic development.

“It is essential to have a continued partnership with the DTI to ensure our MSMEs possess the needed entrepreneurial and financial skills to operate their own businesses, through which they will transform the townspeople’s economic capabilities,’’ Martinez stressed.
