16 gold medals for Tabuk: Team Tribu Banwar rules 2024 Muay Thai National Championships

Tabuk City, Kalinga – There is really no stopping young iKalinga fighters in dominating the national combative sports.

 

A recent testament to this is the overall win of the Team Tribu Banwar in the 2024 Muay Thai National Championships held at the Multi-Purpose Arena at the Philsports Complex in Pasig City on December 3 – 7, 2024.

 

The team composed of 32 athletes ages 10-16 amassed a total of 32 medals – 16 of them are gold, 12 are silver, and 4 are bronze. This medal haul earned the delegation the overall champion spot as they bested 64 other participating teams.

 

The group was likewise conferred the ‘Best Delegation’ award.

 

Tribu Banwar Coach, Erwin Tagure conveyed that Kalinga are blessed with promising athletes, and that that if given enough amount of support, they can conquer more national and international competitions.

 

“It's high time na po talaga nga dapat nayunan da kuma ti suporta toy uubing. Nu awan ti community, parents, ken dagitoy businessmen ket awan mang-fuel piman toy passion toy uubing,” he said, suggesting the need for a strategic road map for athletes which include sports code and ‘tie and knot’ agreement between the DepEd and the LGU which will further cultivate the gifts of iKalinga athletes.

 

After their victory in the 2024 Muay Thai National Championships this December, the Tribu Banwar gears up for the Combat Jiu-jitsu National Championship in January 2025.
