16-yr.-old student killed after jeep overshoots in Aurora, Isabela

Isabela, Philippines – Two students were just walking on the side of the national road along Sta. Rosa village in Aurora, Isabela when they were suddenly hit by a passenger jeepney Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

The jeepney driven by Daniel Comesari, 67, was heading in the north direction but due to the heavy traffic, the driver swerved left, hitting the students walking on the roadside.

The victims identified as Shinrence Estanislao, a resident of Barangay Sta. Rita, Aurora, and Roxanne Maffi Acoba, 15, from Barangay San Andres in the same town, were rushed to the hospital.

Estanislao, however, was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Acoba is still under observation.

The jeepney’s driver who was heading home with her wife at the time of the incident, was brought to the custody of Aurora police and may face Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide and Serious Physical Injury.

Authorities, meanwhile, are conducting further investigation to determine the cause of the tragic occurrence.
