17-year-old student in Cagayan dies in road accident

Baggao, Cagayan – A 17-year-old student died in a road accident along the National Highway, Zone 1, Bitag Grande, Baggao Cagayan on Monday, October 3, according to police.

The victim was riding a black scooter with 852-BEB plate traversing San Jose highway when he suddenly hit a concrete post along the road at around 3:45 pm, resulting in his death.

With the impact, the victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to Baggao District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Based on the initial investigation by the authorities, the victim was drunk when he insisted on leaving his friend’s house to attend his class.

Residents who witnessed the incident saw the victim was driving fast when the accident transpired.

The victim was identified as Jovan Balderamos, 17, Senior High school student and a resident of San Isidro, Baggao.

As of press time, the body of Balderamos is at his family’s house for his wake.

Earlier this week, another accident occurred which involved a ‘kulung-kulong’ driven by a 58-year-old farmer and a resident of Barangay Sto. Tomas, Claveria, Cagayan.

In a report by DZCV Tuguegarao City, the victim was traversing the National Highway of Taggat Sur of said town when he lost control of the steering wheel. The victim crashed into a steel wall along the road which pierced his chest.

The victim was declared dead on arrival by the Northern Cagayan District Hospital of said town.
