At the heart of the 18th Lang-ay Festival in Mt. Province, the youth from various parts of the province stood out not only as performers but also as proud representatives of their rich cultural heritage.

On April 6, 2025, the province's Information Office shared captivating moments, showcasing the young people demonstrating their strong bond with their culture and their dedication to preserving it through lively dances, rhythmic chants, and vibrant traditional clothing.

“The Lang-ay cultural presentations continue to teach the younger generation to preserve their unique traditions, costumes, and values,” said the Mountain Province PIO on its Facebook.

The purpose of youth engagement in such activities shows that the province's cultural heritage is far from disappearing.

In response to the purpose of the cultural show, the young people took on their roles with excitement, donning intricately crafted clothing and joyfully showcasing traditions that have historically shaped their identity as Kankanaey, Balangao, and other various ethno-linguistic groups within the province.

Through traditional dances passed down by their elders and the recounting of rituals and songs in native languages, the youth showcased their ability to learn and actively embrace their tradition.

In a world of rapid change, the youth of said province are showing that honoring their ancestors is not just about remembering what they preserved over the past years—it’s performing and taking it into life with pride and purpose.

Taking place until April 17 in the capital town of Bontoc, this year’s Lang-ay Festival, with the theme "Mt. Province at 58: Honoring Traditions and Reaching Greater Heights," highlights both the province’s rich heritage and its progress over the past years.
