19 couples exchange "I dos" in Aguinaldo, Ifugao mass wedding

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – Love was in the air at the Municipal Gymnasium as some 19 couples from all over Aguinaldo town in Ifugao gathered to officially tie the knot in a mass wedding dubbed as “Kasalang Bayan 2023” held Saturday, February 18.

In observance of the Civil Registration Month per Presidential Proclamation No. 682, the local government led by Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. organized the free mass wedding ceremony to legitimize the union of couples, including those who have been living together but could not afford expenses of getting married.

The “Kasalang Bayan 2023” was initially scheduled on Valentine’s Day but was later moved to a weekend for some reason.

Fees for marriage processing were offered by the municipal government free of charge, including the application marriage license and solemnization.

Mayor Chilagan Jr. who has been officiating the annual mass wedding since he started as mayor made emphasis on the importance of prayer in upholding the integrity of a family.

With them officially exchanging their “I dos”, the couples’ children may acquire legitimate status in their civil registry documents.
