19 PWDs in Tinglayan get cash assistance

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Local Government Unit of Tinglayan, led by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, distributed cash assistance to persons with disabilities in Tinglayan.

The distribution, which happened on Friday, Oct. 06, was spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Kalinga, the funding agency, and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

Those who received cash aid on said date were the 19 PWDs who were not able to get theirs in the previous pay-out, which transpired in February this year.

Jessica Agod, Social Welfare Officer II, said beneficiaries came from 4 barangays in Tinglayan - Old Tinglayan, Ngibat, Basao, and Ambato.

During the payout, each beneficiary was awarded P3,800.

In an interview with Agnes Saguilot, one of the recipients, she conveyed her gratitude to the national government for providing such assistance to PWDs like her, as this helps her to provide for their household needs and for the needs of her children who are studying.

“Agyaman ak launay ken dakkel pasalamat ko ta adda ti kastoy nga programa nga impaay ti gobyerno nga magtultulong kanyami nga PWD, akas kanyak nga maysa ta isu ti pagal-al-anmi ti financial mi nga paggatang launay ti bagas, pagkusina Ken usaren ti anak ko nga eskwela,” she conveyed.

To recall, the local government likewise launched a program benefiting PWDs called the ‘Fachang’ program.

Under said program, the municipal LGU will provide P6,000 in annual cash assistance or P1,500 in quarterly support to PWDs in Tinglayan whose ages range from one month to 59 years old.
