19-yr.-old Baguio car racer secures bronze medal in Taipei international race

Baguio City, Philippines – A college sophomore in Baguio City came out among the best of the racers in this year’s Taipei International Gymkhana Prize (TIGP) Race.

 

TIGP is the first intercontinental auto gymkhana competition, aimed at showcasing top gymkhana drivers and promoting grassroots motorsport accessibility and participation.

 

In this year’s edition, Iñigo Navarrete Anton of the University of Baguio brought the Philippines onto the podium and finished the race in the top 3 in the male solo division.


Anton was described as having set the fastest time in the competition’s official practice and being the only driver to have consistently finished the race in the top 3 in the qualifying and male solo events.

 

The 19-year-old competed against 49 delegates and best racers representing 16 countries like Germany, Japan, Slovakia, Great Britain, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, India, Nepal, and most of the Southeast Asian nations.

 

After securing bronze, Anton is set to compete in the Malaysian Championship Series on May 4 – 5, 2024. He will be racing with his team, Axle Sports.
