19-yr.-old student in Santiago, Isabela killed then tied to a tree

Isabela, Philippines – The grim death of a 19-year-old student who was discovered lying dead with her head tied to a tree left a stunned family seeking answers.

The victim hidden by the name “Joy”, a student of a university in Santiago City, and a resident of San Mateo, Isabela went out from her boarding house around 4 a.m. on Sunday, June 18, to attend a mass.

Just like what she used to do, she sent her parents the body number of the tricycle she boarded going to church.

Around 2 p.m. on that same day, a construction worker found “Joy” along Palac Street in Barangay Buenavista, Santiago City with her hands and feet tied. Her head was tied to a “saraisa” tree.

Responding personnel said the victim was already dead for about six hours when found.

A rock with blood on it was recovered from the crime scene which might had been used to kill “Joy,” based on the wounds on her face.

The police cannot say that the student was raped since she was well dressed. Santiago City Police Office, however, will be conducting autopsy to confirm.

Investigation is underway to further determine the killer and the motive behind such heinous crime.
