2 Cordilleran generals promoted to two-star rank

Baguio City, Philippines – Two Cordilleran generals now assume a higher level of responsibilities following their promotion on Tuesday, May 09, at Camp Crame in Quezon City.


Chief of Philippine National Police (PNP), Police Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. donned the two-star rank to Police Major Generals Victor Wanchakan and Rudolph Dimas. PMGEN Harold Tuzon likewise got promoted to the same rank.

Wanchakan, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1991, is a son of Mt. Province.


The newly-promoted general is a former director of Kalinga Police Provincial Office who served as Deputy Regional Director for Administration in Police Regional Office 9 in Zamboanga Peninsula and as Deputy Director of Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management (DICTM) before he was assigned as Deputy Director of the Area Police Command in Western Mindanao.


Dimas is also a proud Igorot from Besao, Mt. Province. He is a member of the PNPA Class of 1992.


He served as the Provincial Director of Camarines Norte PNP from November 2015 to October 2017 and was installed as the Director of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) before he was assigned as the 40th regional director of the Bicol region in August 2022.

In February 2023, Dimas was appointed as Acting Director of the Special Action Force.


Meanwhile, Police Brigadier Generals Victor Arevalo, Lex Ephraim Gurat, Alfredo Dangani, Paul Kenneth Lucas, Roderick Mariano, and Redrico Maranan were promoted to the rank of one-star general.


Chief Acorda commended the remarkable achievements of the promoted police officers and extended his felicitations to their families. With their promotion, the top cop challenged them “to prioritize the welfare and safety of the people, to continue learning and improving their skills, and to always stay true to the core values of service, honor, and justice.”


“The PNP is confident that through the trust and support of the people, we will be able to accomplish our mandated task with excellence. Let us continue to work towards earning and maintaining that trust by providing them with the best possible service,” stated the PNP chief.
