2 die after tricycle crashes into a trailer truck in Santiago, Isabela

Santiago City, Isabela - A tragic road accident in Santiago City, Isabela on Sunday night, October 27, claimed the lives of two individuals. 

 

Involved in the accident were a tricycle driven by a 56-year-old man identified by the police as  Danilo, a resident of San Mateo, Isabela, and a trailer truck driven by Arnel, 35, a resident of Cauayan City, Isabela.

 

The tricycle had three passengers identified as Lufricina, 80, Saturnina, 67, and Labinab Grande, 50.

 

According to the report from the Santiago Police Station, as revealed in their investigations, the tricycle was travelling on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Batal heading to Barangay Divisoria, Santiago City, while the trailer truck was said to be moving to enter the highway from a gasoline station.

 

While the truck was crossing, the tricycle suddenly crashed into the left side of the truck or the trailer’s bed.

 

As a result of the crash, Danilo died on the spot, while his passengers were severely injured. The rescue team rushed the passengers to a hospital nearby, but one of them, Saturnina, succumbed to her injuries.

 

The two other passengers, fortunately, survived the incident and are currently recuperating at a hospital.

 

Meanwhile, Arnel, the truck driver, was not injured. He was not charged after the matter was settled amicably.
