2 elderlies died after getting hit by lightning in Cagayan

Cagayan, Philippines – Two senior citizens were not able to make it to the hospital after they were fatally struck by lightning in Gattaran, Cagayan on April 25, 2024.

On Thursday, a thunderstorm hit some areas in Cagayan, like the Municipality of Gattaran, and stranded three men who were supposed to head home from the mountains.

According to the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, the three took shelter under a tree while waiting for the rain and thunder to stop in Barangay Naddungan, Gattaran.

However, lightning suddenly struck two of the victims, 77-year-old Dante Seguro and 65-year-old Rey Fabia, while their other companion was thrown away.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office responded to the incident, but the two senior citizen victims were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Their companion, who sustained injuries after being thrown away, is currently recuperating at the hospital.
