Trio from Tabuk and Ifugao nabbed for peddling P5.2M worth of Marijuana


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Three individuals residing in Tabuk City and Ifugao are currently detained in Nueva Vizcaya after allegedly selling millions worth of suspected marijuana on February 12, 2024.

 

Police identified the accused as Lina Bayog and Joy Alngad, both 52 years old and from Agbannawag, Tabuk City; and Sherwin Atolba, 46, from Banaue, Ifugao.

 

The three were apprehended after purportedly selling 21 bricks believed to be marijuana to an undercover operative during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tuao North, Bagabag, at around 6:00 p.m. on Monday.


After the arrest, police reportedly recovered 23 more bricks of suspected marijuana from the suspects.

 

The total contraband confiscated from the three accused was estimated to weigh 44 kilograms and worth P5,280,000.00.

 

In an interview with local media, Nueva Vizcaya police spokesperson, PMaj. Jolly Villar, revealed that the marijuana recovered originated from Kalinga, and that the suspects were operating not only in region 2 but also in regions 3, 4A, and the National Capital Region.

 

He added that authorities had been monitoring the movements of the accused for more than a month prior to their arrest.
