2 killed after motorcycle slams into pickup truck in Tuguegarao City

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Two individuals were killed when the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a pickup truck along the national highway in Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City over the weekend.

The pickup driver was heading home to Iguig, while the two victims on board a motorcycle were on the opposite lane going towards Poblacion when the pickup driver tried to overtake a tricycle, the local police said.

Both vehicles were said to be speeding, resulting in the collision.

The rider identified as Michael Alan, 29, from Carig Sur, and the backrider Mark Paul Taguinod, 28, from Linao East were rushed to Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) but were declared dead on arrival with the impact of the accident. Both victims were construction workers.

The pickup driver was named Roderick Gaspar, 49, a government employee from Sta. Teresa, Iguig.
