2 killed as truck fell into deep ravine in Kiangan, Ifugao

Kiangan, Ifugao – Two people were killed when a vegetable delivery truck slid down into a deep ravine Saturday night, July 22, at Sitio Patkik, Julongan, Kiangan.

The two, a driver and his helper, were headed to Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, to deliver tomatoes when the incident happened. Police are still investigating what caused the truck to fall into the ravine.

A witness said the incident happened at 10 p.m. in the evening. He told police he heard a loud sound that night but chose to ignore it.

In the morning, he noticed tire and dirt markings on the side of the road. When he checked it out, he saw the back part of the vehicle, a white Isuzu with plate number AFA-8792 in the 300-meter-deep ravine.

He called the police, but it was already too late since the victims were already dead when recovered.

The victims were identified by police as Cesar Undo Cadingpal Jr., 39, the driver and a resident of Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya; and Rene Undo Cadingpal, 27, a resident of Tinoc, Ifugao.

The remains of the victims were already claimed by their respective families.
