2 men in Bangued, Abra shot to death by unidentified gunman

Bangued, Abra – Another shooting incident was recorded in Abra, particularly at Sitio Barbarit, Cosili East, Bangued evening of Friday, July 5, resulting in the death of two individuals.

The victims were two men who were drinking liquor with two other individuals when the killing happened.

Bangued police said the yet-to-be-identified gunman came from the backyard of the house where they were drinking. While the merriment was happening, the gunman suddenly appeared, shot the victims multiple times and immediately fled the scene.

The victims died on the spot due to gunshot wounds on their heads and chest. They were ferried to a medical facility but none of them were revived.

They were identified as Kieft Marty Bona Batalla, 21, and Mark Joseph Tupasi, 28. Batalla was a resident of Santa Rosa, Peñarrubia while Tupasi was from Bugbog, Bucay.

Five spent shells and one bullet were recovered at the crime scene. This came from a caliber 4o firearm.

As of this writing, further investigation of the crime is being conducted by authorities. A pursuit operation was also launched.

A month ago, three shooting incidents transpired in Abra’s capital, one was an ambush which attempted to kill a barangay captain that resulted in the death of his brother-in-law. Another is the killing of a farmer in a game of pool in Sagap, and the murder of a rice mill helper in Calot.
