Updated: Jul 8, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Two male riders were injured after colliding along the Kalinga-Isabela-Cagayan national road in Mapaoay, Ipil Thursday later afternoon, June 10.

Based on the initial investigation of the Traffic Management Unit, the victims, a 67-year-old farmer from Bayabat and a 41-year-old construction worker from Lacnog Proper, were both heading towards Barangay Nambaran when the incident happened.

Police report states that the farmer was at the outer lane of the highway riding his XRM and was ahead of the construction worker. The latter, meanwhile, was riding another XRM using the middle lane.

When they were approaching the intersection of the access road going to the Ipil Barangay Hall, the farmer suddenly executed a left turn towards the access road that resulted to the other rider crashing into him.

Both lost their balance and tumbled on the pavement.

Concerned people rushed them to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital.

The farmer was admitted at the hospital after sustaining head injury. The construction worker, on the other hand, received multiple abrasions but was discharged after medical treatment.

Both of the motorcycles were brought to Traffic Management Unit for temporary custody.
