2 New Delta Cases recorded in Apayao

Luna, Apayao - The Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Department of Health- Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH-CAR) detected 2 additional COVID-19 Delta variant cases in Apayao.


The Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (PIATF) informed this on September 13, 2021.


The two new recorded cases were discovered in the Municipality of Luna, bringing a total of 7 recorded and confirmed delta variant cases in Apayao; 3 from the Municipality of Pudtol and 4 from Luna.


The task force has called for the imposition of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in the province until September 30, 2021.


According to PIATF, the detection of the presence of the additional cases of the variant was made through a lab test of the specimens by the Philippine Genome Centre.


Fortunately, all seven cases have been declared fully recovered according to its Provincial Government office in a Facebook post.

The task force advised the general public to be more vigilant and observe the set health protocols, especially of staying at home unless for essential and emergency situations. That they should observe social distancing and practice proper hygiene at all times.


“Rest assured that the PIATF and the Luna MIATF shall continue to work jointly to address and manage this situation,” the task force officials said.


Meanwhile, the PIATF together with Luna Municipal IATF will conduct an aggressive contact tracing of individuals who had interactions and contact with the confirmed Delta variant cases. They will undergo Reverse transcription- Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test.


As recalled, Apayao had its first COVID-19 Delta variant in the Municipality of Pudtol on August 6, 2021.
