2 police from Kalinga die in Cagayan car crash

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSE Group) in Laoag City and the community mourn the loss of two brave souls in a vehicular accident.

 

The two, along with three other members of AVSE Group – Laoag City, were returning from Kalinga to Laoag, onboard a black Hyundai Eon.

 

The vehicle was moving on a descending sharp curve along the national highway in Barangay Nagattatan, Pamplona, Cagayan around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, February 26, when its brakes malfunctioned, causing it to overturn twice, according to a report from local police.


As a result, the five police officers identified as Police Master Sergeant (PMSg) Marcial Padang, 39, from Casigayan, Tabuk City; Patrolman June Lumingis, 31, from Poblacion, Tanudan; Patrolman Jayson Ullasic, 27, from Barangay Centro, Tanudan; PMSg Bryner Bakidan from Dananao, Tinglayan; and Police Corporal Rodirex Dumaguing from Mangali, Tanudan, who was driving the car owned by Bakidan, sustained injuries.

 

Prompt response from RESCUE Pamplona transported the victims to the Far North Medical Center in Apayao for medical intervention. However, the injuries proved fatal for Dumaguing and Bakidan, who were pronounced dead upon arrival.
