Malibcong, Abra – Two soldiers are killed, while one is missing after a Communist Terrorist Group ambushed a group of army on Thursday morning, October 27, at Barangay Gacab, Malibcong, Abra.

The incident happened while the soldiers were on their way to Baay-Licuan of Abra to augment the manpower needed for the Disaster Response Operations (DRO) following the recent 6.4 magnitude earthquake which hit the place on October 25.

LTC Ricardo Garcia III, Battalion Commander of 24IB, said that the identities of the victims are yet to be disclosed.

With the incident, the commander strongly condemned in the strongest terms the NPA attack and assured the victims will get the justice they deserved.

"We condemn in the strongest terms possible, the barbaric act of the CTG. We assure our people, particularly the families of our soldiers, that we will pursue the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” Lt. Col. Garcia expressed.

“This gruesome ambush against our soldiers in disaster response mode is another proof of their cruelty and inhumanity to our countrymen. Naghihirap na nga ang kababayan natin sa trahedya, itong mga nais na tumulong at magresponde na sundalo natin sana ay walang awang pinaslang nila,” added by BGen Audrey Pasia, Commander of the 5th Infantry Division.

Meantime, the commander assured that even with the ambush that happened, they will still continue to send their personnel to help the affected families in Abra.
