2 teen girls tricked into working at a Baguio bar rescued by authorities

Baguio City, Philippines - Two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, were rescued by authorities from exploitation after the two ended up working at a bar instead of a job at a restaurant which to them was earlier promised.

According to the DZWT 540 AM—Radyo Totoo, police reports narrated that the victims were saved after a concerned individual reported the situation of the minors.

Police did not mention if the one who tricked the teen girls was a man or a woman.

The reports said the two were offered by the suspect to work at a canteen or restaurant in Baguio. However, when they arrived in the city, the suspect brought them to a bar situated at Kayang Street.

There, the victims were forced to serve liquor and engage in entertaining customers, a job that was far from what they expected.

Fortunately, the victims’ situation was noticed by an individual, who notified the police.

In response to this, the police promptly opened an investigation.  After they confirmed the report was valid, they headed to the bar and recovered the young women from exploitation.

The victims are now in the custody of DSWD-Baguio for the provision of necessary support and services for their recovery.

Meanwhile, the suspect, whose identity was withheld by the police, has been taken into custody by the Baguio City Police Office and will be charged with violating Section IV A of Republic Act 9208, otherwise known as the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
