2 thieves in Isabela stole water pump, arrested after getaway vehicle fell into rice field

Cauayan City, Isabela - Two thieves who stole a water pump in Isabela were caught by the authorities on Saturday, July 6, 2024, after their getaway vehicle fell into a rice field.

 

The suspects were identified as alias "Zaldy", 26, and alias "Balong" 15. They are residents of Cauayan City, Isabela.

 

As relayed by a witness to police, Zaldy and Balong were roaming around a project site in Barangay Nagrumbuan while on board a "kolong-kolong". He narrated that when they got the opportunity, the two picked up a 2×2 6.5 horsepower self-priming water pump.

 

The witness tried to chase them, but he was unable to do so. He then decided to report the matter to the authorities. In response, the officials of said barangay immediately checked the CCTV footage, leading to the identification of the suspects.


On the same day, a person informed the officials that   a “kolong-kolong “fell into a rice field.

 

When they arrived at the place, it was then that they saw the suspects and the stolen water pump.  They called the police who later apprehended the two.

 

At present, Zaldy is now in the custody of the Cauayan City Police Station, while Balong was scheduled to be turned over to Bahay Pag-Asa.
