2 yKalingas among top 3 graduates of military training in Gamu, Isabela

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Two graduating soldiers from Kalinga finished military training on top of their classes at 5th Division Training School, Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz in Gamu, Isabela on May 16, 2022.


The 5th Infantry Division reported that under the MAKISIG Alab Class 692, Private Simon Maslang who hailed from Tanudan, Kalinga was Top 3 of their class with a general average of 92.86%.


While Private Christian Leones from Tabuk City, Kalinga, also ranked 3rd, in the SANIB LAHI Class 693 with a general average of 90.88%.

The 5th Infantry Division reported that there were a total of 243 new army privates who finished the 6-month Candidate Soldier Course cross-trained with Infantry Orientation Course. The 243 new soldiers were divided into two classes, 126 for MAKISIG ALAB Class 692 and 117 for SANIB LAHI Class 693


Apart from Maslang and Leones, two more brought home awards from the training. They are Private Rufino Dinulong from Tanudan and Private Ryan Arias from Pinukpuk who received the Tarzan Award or the Physical Fitness Proficiency accolade.

Major General Laurence Mina, the Commander of 5ID urged the young soldiers to remain committed to their duty saying, "bilang mga bagong kasapi ng 5ID at bilang pinakabatang Startroopers, nais kong isabuhay ninyo ang mga prinsipyong pinaniniwalaan at pinahahalagahan ng ating pamunuan- ang pagiging tapat sa ating tungkulin at pagpapakita ng kahusayan sa lahat ng gampanin."


Of the 243 new soldiers who finished the 6-month military training, 131 came from the Cordillera Administrative Region; 104 are from Region 2; 2 from Region 1; 1 from Region 3; 2 from National Capital Region; 2 from Visayas; and one private from Mindanao.
