20-year-old female student caught selling shabu in Tabuk City

Updated: Jul 23, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A college student in Tabuk City will be facing a case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after being caught allegedly selling suspected contraband to an undercover operative on July 21, 2022.

It is not common for a female student to engage in drug peddling in the city.

The case is one of the few incidents raising questions about whether there might be more.

Tabuk police said the suspect Selly Marie Canao, 20, resident of Barangay Nambaran is listed as a Regional Top 10 Drug personality in the Cordillera.

She was arrested after she allegedly sold 5 grams of suspected shabu worth P34,000 to the undercover police she transacted with around 9:00 AM in Purok 6, Bulanao Centro.

Other items seized from her include the buy-bust and boodle money, an android phone, and a motorcycle.

The suspect was brought to Tabuk City Police Station after an on-site inventory of the pieces of evidence.

During the second quarter of 2022, the Tabuk police arrested 13 drug personalities and seized around P237,758 worth of shabu during various police operations.
