Tabuk City, Kalinga – A 20-year-old college beauty won the first ever Miss Pagdadagupan crown on Saturday, May 06, 2023.

Marking their barangay’s festival this year, Dagupan Centro headed by Punong Barangay George Esteras held its first ever Search for Miss Pagdadagupan.

Among six dashing ladies who tried to get the title, Sheena Nazaro, a 2nd year Financial Management student at Kalinga State University took home the crown in spite of being a neophyte in the world of pageantry.

According to Sheena, she was anxious about joining the search because of her lack of experience in beauty pageants. But with her family and friends’ outpouring support, she dared conquer her nerves and decided to compete for the crown.

Overcoming her stage fright wasn’t only the challenge for Sheena, it was also managing her time to prepare for her first-ever pageant since she is a student who has school requirements to accomplish.

“Since I am also a student, I don't have enough time to prepare for Ms. Pagdadagupan but whenever I had spare time, I use it to practice my ramp walk. I also did some research about Dagupan,” she recounted.

Having been crowned Miss Pagdadagupan, Sheena will be Dagupan Centro’s bet in the 2023 Search for Miss Matagoan.

Other title holders include Francine Astrologio who was hailed first-runner up and Angelica Umali who was the second.

In his message during the coronation night, Punong Barangay Esteras conveyed that holding big events like the search and other festive activities felt surreal at first but with the concerted effort of the barangay council, the constituents, the different government agencies, and the Tabuk City local government, their vision for the Pagdadagupan Festival was turned into a reality.

“Ti kayat mi lang, naragsak kayo, haan lang nga Dagupan Centro nu di ket dagiti kabangibang na nga bar-barangay… kunami nu haan nga agbalin, agbalin met gayam,” he said in his message during the coronation night of the Search for Miss Pagdadagupan.
