Updated: Nov 28, 2023

La Trinidad, Benguet – To aid them with their medical needs, 200 dialysis and cancer patients in La Trinidad, Benguet, were granted P5,000 each on Friday, November 24.

The assistance given was made possible through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, which was funded by the office of Senator Manuel ‘Lito’ Lapid.

The recipients chosen came from the records of a local organization of cancer and dialysis patients, which were then assessed by the Municipal Social Welfare Office of Benguet’s capital.

Lapid, who personally came during the awarding, said the cash aid is part of his advocacy of helping indigent patients.

In his talk, he assured the people of Benguet that he would continuously be of help, may it be for medical or cash assistance.

Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, meantime, revealed that the senator had been providing funds since he became the caretaker of Benguet, which he utilized in implementing various programs such as cash for work, medical assistance, and even monetary aid.

He added that the senator even has a share in the medical funds for indigent people at the Benguet General Hospital.

As for the beneficiaries, they conveyed their gratitude to the senator, and one of them expressed that she will be using the assistance to buy her maintenance medicine.
