2025 Kalinga Prov’l Meet: Mayor Gumilab reminds Tinglayan athletes importance of discipline and sportsmanship

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Kalinga Sports Festival is not just an avenue for young athletes from different municipalities to compete and display their skills, it is also an opportunity for them to foster discipline, interact, and make new friends.

Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, during his talk to the delegation of Tinglayan, emphasized the importance of said values and character that their athlete must demonstrate in the upcoming Provincial Athletic Meet which will be held in Tabuk City on January 22 – 25.

Gumilab shared that the Tinglayan Local Government Unit and the DepEd already discussed the necessary preparations for the event and that the LGU already provided the budget and logistics support to their athletes.

Gumilab added they also hired trainers to prepare the delegation, saying their goal is to ready and strengthen their players and put up a good fight during the competition.

As the Municipality of Tinglayan readies for the Provincial Meet, Mayor Gumilab wishes the athletes well and encourages them to give their best in their respective games. The Mayor also tells them to seize the moment to make friends with other delegations.

“This is the time nga makibarkada da, maadal da iti discipline ken sportsmanship. Daytoy iti time met lang tapnu maki-fellowship da iti fellow nga taga Kalinga and makibarkada da kadagitoy nga taga Kalinga kasi in the future baka dasuda tu manen iti agkikita ken agkakadwa,” the local chief executive expressed.

Gumilab added that this athletic meet is a unifying factor saying, “daytoy sports ket maysa nga unifing factor met para kasta ket ma-unify met lang iti Kalinga nga agtitinnulong para iti pagsayaatan tayo as a one province.”
