21 Cordilleran youth to compete in ‘Philippine National Skills Competition’


Baguio City, Philippines – Twenty-one young people from Region CAR are set to compete in the Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC) after winning gold medals in the regional level skills competition held at the Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (SITE) Main Campus, Loakan, Baguio City.


The PNSC is an event where technical vocational trainees and graduates from around the country participate in competitions to unravel their skills and showcase their expertise in various trade areas. The PNSC likewise aims to find the country’s representative for the international skills competition.

TESDA-CAR relayed that among the 21 representatives to compete in said contest in December this year, 18 participants are from Baguio and Benguet, and the other three are from Ifugao.


The young competitors, TESDA-CAR said, will join the skills challenge in restaurant service, cooking, bakery, hotel reception, additive manufacturing, beauty therapy, and hairdressing.


Other contested activities are in relation to electrical technology, network cabling, graphics design, IT business solutions, web technologies, refrigeration and air conditioning, prototype modeling, mechanical engineering Computer-Aided Design (CAD), mechatronics, electronics, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) turning, CNC milling, and automotive technology skills.

Chairperson of the Regional Technical Education Skills Development Committee (RTESDC), Atty. Betty Lourdes Tabanda, encouraged the competitors to prepare themselves before the said competition and to have the heart to win.


Meantime, the representatives affirmed their commitment to giving their best in the said upcoming national competition.
