21-yr.-old student dies in motorcycle-truck collision in Isabela

Santiago City, Isabela – A lady rider died after her motorcycle accidentally crashed into an elf truck in Santiago City, Isabela on January 10.

The victim identified by Santiago police as Lily Jane Reyes, 21, a student, was taken to Southern Isabela Medical Center where she died.

Reyes and the driver of the elf truck owned by a catering service in the city were both traversing the national road in Barangay Plaridel when the collision happened, police investigation revealed.

The truck was heading toward Barangay Sinsayon while the victim was bound to Centro Poblacion.

While the elf truck driven by Jomer Raguindin, 27 was about to enter a street at the intersection of the said road, he signaled the victim through a flasher.

It can be said that the victim did not notice the signal, resulting for her oncoming motorcycle to bump into the right side of the service truck, claiming her life.

As to the passengers of the elf truck, police said no one was hurt among them.

The driver is now in police custody while authorities await the decision of the victim’s family with regard to the filing of charges.
