22-yr.-old man found dead in Pasil, Kalinga - investigation on going

Pasil, Kalinga – A young man was found naked and dead with wounds on his neck in Balatoc, Pasil on Saturday, October 05, 2024.

In an interview with GURU Press Cordillera, Pasil Acting Police Chief, PCapt. Diezel Gilfilan relayed that their office received information around 4:00 p.m. on said date about a body discovered in Sitio Mabinong, Batong Buhay.

Upon receipt of the report, authorities including the Bureau of Fire Protection Pasil were deployed to retrieve the victim.

Gilfilan described they found the young man who was identified as Daniel Maiyao Alunday, 22, in a creek, approximately 100 meters from his camp in Mabinong. The body was ferried to a funeral parlor in Tabuk City. Post mortem results revealed he sustained a wound and two lacerations on his neck.

The Pasil top cop further relayed they have persons of interest and that they are appealing to whoever saw the incident to reach out to their office and help in the ongoing investigation of the case.

“As for now, adda iti persons of interest tayo. Sapay kuma apo, i-pangaasi tayo kadagiay umili idiay tapnu i-reveal da nu adda man nakita da. Pagsiyaatan da met lang daytoy, tapnu mas napaspas nga masolbar daytoy nga incidente,” he said.

Likewise, the authorities are also verifying the claim of an individual who was allegedly held and was asked if he is an ‘i-Pasil’. Moreover, teams of police from the 2nd KPMFC established a checkpoint in Dangtalan and Batong Buhay to aid in the capture of the possible killer.

Nevertheless, a relative of the family, whose identity is withheld, said thru a message that there could be another story about the death as others in the area are claiming telling another reason of death. Thus, they are waiting for the result of the autopsy.

Meantime, Gilfilan is asking the public to immediately report to them should they experience any threat saying, “nu adda kakasta nga incident nga kasdiay nga makita da nga harm, dagus da kuma nga i-report iti kapulisan tayo nga Pasil tapnu ma-actionan a dagus.”

The relatives of the victim, currently grieving due to the tragic incident, are appealing to the public and the netizens to respect the family and not to distribute or share the morbid picture of their dead relative.
