22-yr-old motorcycle rider dies after he hit carabao in Amulung, Cagayan

Amulung, Cagayan - Animals darting into the road can lead to potential crashes and pose serious risks for both the animal and the motorist/s involved – such is the recent road accident in Amulung, Cagayan.

Report from the Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group showed that more than 300 road accidents related to animal crossing have been listed in the country in the past three years.

One of the latest cases of such an incident in the country was recorded in Cagayan earlier this week, where a 22-year-old victim lost his life.

The victim, a motorcycle rider, was identified as alias "Jonnel," a resident of Alcala, Cagayan.

Police reported that Jonnel was on board a motorcycle and was traversing the national highway in Amulung, Cagayan around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, when a carabao suddenly appeared on his way.

Jonnel tried not to hit the carabao, but he was unable to do so. As a result, his motorcycle crashed straight against the animal, resulting in his severe injuries.

Despite being rushed to a hospital by the responding authorities, Jonnel was not able to survive.

Meanwhile, the owner of the carabao is currently being investigated to know if he was responsible for the incident. If the owner is found responsible, he will face legal consequences.
