22-yr.-old working student crowned Mr. Balbalan 2024

Updated: Jul 27

Balbalan, Kalinga – The much-coveted crown among gentlemen in Balbalan has been taken home by a 22-year-old working student from Balantoy.

Among nine young men who battled for the title, Ashley Jade Mosing Camaddo, an incoming 4th-year college student taking Bachelor of Science in Biology at the Kalinga State University, won the crown as Mr. Balbalan 2024 on July 18.

Camaddo relayed to GURU Press Cordillera this is his third time joining a pageant, and the third must be really a lucky number as he finally got the crown. His first attempt at pageantry was the search for Mr. Balbalan in 2019 and the second was for Mr. and Ms. KSU 2024.

What made him decide to join the town’s search for their next representative in Mr. Kalinga 2025 was his advocacy of empowering his fellow youth since getting the title will allow him to organize more activities for them.

“I want to empower my fellow youth by organizing activities and programs related to youth that would further boost their engagement and to develop them as leaders also,” he said.

Utilizing his time well

Camaddo is an active student leader at school. But apart from juggling his responsibilities as a student officer and his academics, he is also working as a service crew at a fast-food chain in Bulanao.

He relayed he decided to have a part-time job to have extra allowance, and mostly to utilize his vacant time.

“While being a student leader, a working student and a title holder of Mr. Balbalan, I really need to discipline myself to balance everything in between,” he said.

As the newly-crowned Mr. Balbalan, Camaddo is looking forward to implementing projects and programs that would benefit his fellow youth in Balbalan.
